The year 2026 marks a series of significant milestones for Mission Alliance: 125 years since our founding in Oslo, Norway; 50 years of service in the Philippines; and 30 years of dedicated work in Vietnam. For more than a century, our journey of compassion and solidarity has crossed borders, reaching communities and places that once seemed beyond imagination.
As we celebrate 125 years of impact, we honour the countless individuals who have shaped our story—past and present staff members, partners, supporters, and community leaders. Each of them has contributed an invaluable piece to a shared vision that began in a small Nordic nation and grew into a global organisation. United by common values and a commitment to human dignity, we have spent the last 125 years working to combat poverty and promote social justice for the most vulnerable members of society.
Mission Alliance’s work in Vietnam began with a focus on supporting people affected by leprosy. Over the years, the organisation has continuously evolved, adapting its approaches to meeting changing social, economic, and geopolitical realities. Today, while poverty reduction remains at the heart of our mission, we also invest in empowering women in vulnerable circumstances, promoting the inclusion and rights of persons with disabilities, and addressing pressing global challenges such as climate change, plastic pollution, and environmental degradation—particularly in the Mekong Delta, one of Vietnam’s most climate-vulnerable regions.
Speaking at the celebration of Mission Alliance’s 30th anniversary in Vietnam, Ms. Trine Grønborg Christensen, International Director of Mission Alliance, expressed her sincere appreciation to government authorities and agencies at both national and local levels. She also recognised the invaluable contributions of partners who have worked alongside the organisation to strengthen communities, build local capacity, and encourage meaningful participation. Together, these efforts have laid the foundation for resilient, self-reliant, and sustainable communities.
At Mission Alliance, we believe that lasting change is merely achieved when we move forward together. As we celebrate three decades in Vietnam, we reaffirm our commitment to working hand in hand with local authorities, partners, and communities to create a better future—one that is inclusive, sustainable, and responsive to global challenges. We look ahead with hope and determination, ensuring that our mission of love, dignity, and social justice continues to inspire and transform lives for many years to come.
